# How To Add A Merchant?

A "Merchant" is any business or seller operating on your platform.

- On the Admin panel<font color="">, click on "Merchants." </font>

## Merchant Type: E-commerce vs. Pick and Drop

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/A6k4A417O1V2DGm4H5kN0/cv_VPdIn3IMu5p2CJJyrr_image.png" size="70" width="437" height="193" position="center" darkWidth="437" darkHeight="193" showCaption="false"}

This option lets you choose between setting up an online store to **sell products (E-commerce)** or offering a delivery service where customers can **send items from one place to another (Pick & Drop)**.&#x20;

### E-commerce Store

This option is for merchants who sell their own products online (like a grocery store or a clothing shop). Think of it like a digital version of a physical store.

### Pick and Drop

Choose this option if you are creating a delivery merchant that allows customers to book a package delivery from one location to another. For instance, a courier service where a customer can send a parcel from their office to a friend’s house would use this type.

## Add Info in Preferred Languages&#x20;

Tailor your store information to customer choices. Use [language settings](https://help.hyperzod.com/language) to add or remove options or choose the default language of your store. This feature allows you to input and present store details in the customer's chosen language. For example, if a customer selects Spanish, all added information will be displayed in Spanish for them.

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/A6k4A417O1V2DGm4H5kN0/k5n3OTaJ0aPdvQqD_3zQe_guide-to-editing-merchant-information-on-hyperzod-app-step-2.png" size="70" width="1120" height="626" position="center" darkWidth="1120" darkHeight="626" showCaption="false"}

<font color="">Complete the 'Merchant Name &amp; Other Basic Details' section. Note that fields marked with a '*' are mandatory, such as the "Merchant Name". If your store offers 'pickup' as an option, ensure to provide the "Merchant Address", which will be displayed during customer checkout.</font>

Select 'Admin Side' or 'Merchant Side' to designate the party responsible for managing deliveries. In the case of merchant-managed delivery, customers will see that the delivery is handled by the store, and the store can conveniently mark orders as 'Pickup' and 'Delivered' through their store panel or apps.

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/A6k4A417O1V2DGm4H5kN0/DwA-_xe6nVHh6eO_4K5JB_adding-a-new-merchant-and-configuring-settings-for-a-coupon-step-27.png" size="70" width="1075" height="601" position="center" darkWidth="1075" darkHeight="601" showCaption="false"}

## Set Commission for Merchant per Order

First, you'll see options to set the commission for like **Delivery**, **Pickup**, and **Custom**.

This means you can set a **different commission rate&#x20;**&#x66;or each type of order. For example, you might want to charge a higher commission for delivery orders (since they can involve more logistics) and a lower one for simple pickup orders. Specify the status under which the commission should be calculated and appear under '[Reports](https://help.hyperzod.com/reports).'

**Scenario 1: You only want to charge a 15% commission and a fixed amount of $2 on all delivery orders.**

- Click the **Delivery&#x20;**&#x74;ab.
- Enter 15 in the **Percentage&#x20;**&#x62;ox.
- Enter 2 in the **Fixed&#x20;**&#x62;ox.
- Click **Save**

Simply repeat this process for each order type (Delivery, Pickup, and Custom Order Type) that the merchant offers.

:::hint{type="info"}
**Note:** The Merchant Commission is calculated based on the order subtotal before any discounts or delivery fees are applied.

### Product Tax Configuration

In addition to configuring how taxes are displayed to customers, you can also define how product taxes are applied for each merchant.

When editing a merchant, you can choose between the following **Product Tax** modes:

**Merchant Level:&#x20;**&#x53;elect Merchant Level if you want the same tax percentage to be applied to all products within that merchant. Simply enter the required tax percentage, and it will automatically be applied across the merchant's entire product catalog.

**Example:&#x20;**&#x49;f you enter 10%, every product belonging to that merchant will be charged a 10% product tax.

**Product Level:&#x20;**&#x53;elect Product Level if different products require different tax rates. With this option enabled, you'll need to edit each product individually and specify its applicable tax percentage.

- **Payment Settings: Admin vs. Merchant:** Override the order payment options for this store. This will override the globally configured payment settings of the Admin ([Payment Methods](https://help.hyperzod.com/payment-methods)) and allow you to select different payment options and accounts for this store.   Additionally, you can enable or disable manual payment options such as Cash on Delivery and bank transfer for this store.&#x20;

## Merchant SEO Setting &#x20;

Enhance your store's search engine optimization by configuring these technical parameters.&#x20;

**Page Title:&#x20;**&#x54;his is the main, blue, clickable headline that appears in a Google search result. It's the very first thing a potential customer will read. It must grab their attention and clearly state what the page is about.

**Meta Description:&#x20;**&#x54;his is the small paragraph of text that appears underneath the Page Title in a Google search result. This is your 2-3 sentence "advertisement" to convince someone to click on your link instead of someone else's.

**Meta Keyword:&#x20;**&#x41; list of keywords related to the merchant's business, separated by commas.

**Upload Open Graph Image:&#x20;**&#x54;his is the preview image that appears when someone shares a link to this merchant's page on social media (like Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, etc.). A good image makes a shared link look professional and inviting, which encourages more people to click on it.&#x20;

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/A6k4A417O1V2DGm4H5kN0/nq0YTnNpWjtGU22LlQokV_hyperzod-workflow-step-4.png" size="90" width="1090" height="512" position="center" darkWidth="1090" darkHeight="512" showCaption="false"}

***

## Checkout Custom Fields

Customize your store's checkout process. For example, for a liquor store, you can add fields like ID upload for age verification. (For universal fields appearing in all store checkouts, add them under [Order Settings](https://help.hyperzod.com/order))

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/A6k4A417O1V2DGm4H5kN0/Px5yIWTWyzWGxjlc1S2Oh_how-to-create-and-save-an-order-type-with-id-verification-step-7.png" size="80" width="1120" height="626" position="center" darkWidth="1120" darkHeight="626" showCaption="false"}

**Order Type:** Select the Order type in which these extra fields should appear&#x20;

::Image[]{src="https://api.archbee.com/api/optimize/A6k4A417O1V2DGm4H5kN0/QtacSd909w27jbbHYGXG6_image.png" size="70" width="1111" height="762" position="center" darkWidth="1111" darkHeight="762" showCaption="false"}

**Product Category:&#x20;**&#x59;ou don't always want to show a custom form to every customer. This is where conditions become incredibly powerful. You can make the form appear only when a customer buys a product from a specific category.

**Example: Age Verification at a 24/7 Convenience Store**

Imagine your 24/7 convenience store sells everything from snacks to tobacco and liquor. You only need to verify a customer's age for certain items.

- Create a "File Upload" form titled "ID Verification Required."
- In the **Product Category&#x20;**&#x64;ropdown, select both your "Tobacco" and "Alcoholic Drinks" categories.
- **Result:&#x20;**&#x54;he ID upload form will remain hidden for customers buying only chips and soda. It will automatically appear at checkout only if a customer adds a product from either the tobacco or alcohol categories to their cart.

:::

***

:::ExpandableHeading
**What is the difference between Delivery by Admin and Delivery by Merchant?**

**Delivery by Admin** means that all delivery operations are managed by the admin. The admin can choose how orders are fulfilled either through the **Autozod panel** (if using an in-house fleet and driver app) or through an **integrated third-party delivery provider**. When a third-party delivery option is selected under **“Delivery Provider,”** incoming orders are automatically routed to that provider’s panel for fulfillment.

**Delivery by Merchant** means that the merchant is responsible for handling their own deliveries using their own fleet or external resources.&#x20;
:::

***

:::ExpandableHeading
**Can different commission rates be configured for delivery, pickup, and custom orders?**

Yes, different commission rates can be set for each order type. For example, you can apply a higher commission rate for **delivery orders** (as they involve additional logistics) and a lower rate for **pickup orders**.

To configure this, navigate to **Admin Panel > Merchants > Edit Merchant**, then scroll down to the **Commission** section and adjust the rates as needed.
:::

***

:::ExpandableHeading
**What is a “Custom Order”?**

A **Custom Order** is a flexible order type that can be renamed and customized to fit your business needs. You can also personalize the icon and label that appear to customers during checkout.

To edit a custom order type, go to **Admin Panel > Settings > Orders > Order Types** and make the desired changes.
:::

***

:::ExpandableHeading

All reports, including commission-related data and other analytics, can be accessed from the **Admin Panel** under **Analytics > Reports**.

From there, you can:

- Search for a specific **merchant name** or select multiple merchants from the dropdown list.&#x20;
- Click on **Export** to download the detailed report in **CSV format**.&#x20;

These reports include comprehensive details covering commissions, orders, and other key business metrics.
:::

***

:::ExpandableHeading
**Can I customize the slug used in a store’s URL?**

:::

***

:::ExpandableHeading
**Why isn’t the “Place Order” button working at checkout?**

This issue can occur for several reasons. One common cause is that the **accepted order types** (like Delivery or Pickup) have not been configured for the merchant.

To check this, go to **Admin Panel > Merchants > Edit Merchant**, scroll to the **Order Type** section, and make sure the correct options are selected.

If the problem continues, review other configurations such as payment settings, product availability, or contact support for further assistance.
:::

***

:::ExpandableHeading
**How can I override payment methods for a specific store?**

To override payment methods for an individual store:

- Go to **Admin Panel > Merchants**.&#x20;
- Click **Edit** on the desired merchant.&#x20;
- Scroll down to the section labeled **Payment Settings: Admin vs. Merchant**.&#x20;

**Where can I create custom checkout fields for a specific store/merchant?**

To create a custom checkout field for a store:

- Go to **Admin Panel > Merchants > Edit Merchant** (choose the specific store).
- Scroll down and look for the section **"Custom Checkout Fields"**.
- Click on **"Create"** and add your new checkout field as needed.

For example, if you’re managing a liquor store, you might add an **ID upload field** for age verification. You can also decide **which order type** (e.g., delivery, pickup) the extra fields should appear in. Additionally, you can apply **conditions** to make the field appear only when required. For instance, you might show a custom form **only if a customer buys from a specific category**.

**Why is the Checkout button greyed out in my Pick & Drop merchant? Why can't I select certain products?**

If the **Checkout** button is disabled or you're unable to select certain products in your Pick & Drop merchant, it is usually due to the merchant configuration. Follow the troubleshooting steps below to resolve the issue:

- **Ensure only one product category is enabled.**
  &#x20;The Pick & Drop model currently supports **only a single product category**. If multiple categories are enabled or assigned, the checkout process may not work as expected.&#x20;
- **Check that your products do not have add-ons.**
  &#x20;The Pick & Drop model **does not currently support product add-ons**. If add-ons are configured for a product, customers may be unable to select that item.&#x20;

The Pick & Drop model is designed for **packaged item deliveries.&#x20;**&#x49;f your business requires customers to browse a full menu with product customisations and add-ons, we recommend using the **E-commerce** merchant model instead.&#x20;

If you've verified all of the above and the issue still persists, please contact the **Support Team** for further assistance.
